I was lucky enough to attend the summer Craft & Hobby Association (CHA) conference in Chicago last week. One of the exhibits open throughout the conference was for CHA’s Crafty Couture design competition. Here’s the challenge participating CHA designers were faced with:
CHA is holding a competition and challenging DESIGNERS to create a mixed-media “Crafty Couture†fashion gown or cocktail dress worthy of the red carpet. What’s the catch? Designers must incorporate at least two different craft products from different segments of the industry. These displays will exemplify how diverse products in our industry, regardless of their primary segment, compliment one another.
Designers who participate will have to chance to expose and feature their creative work at the heart of the show floor, promote at the show as well as online and potentially win the competition and be featured in an upcoming, nationally distributed issue of Cloth. Paper. Scissors. Magazine.
Here are some shots I snapped of some of the amazing entries. Which is your favorite? And don’t forget to stay tuned this week for more CHA highlights! I was sooo busy last week with work, projects, an out-of-state wedding, and bunch of other fun stuff, so I apologize for not being able to post highlights earlier.
