If you’re looking to make your gifts just a little more personal this year, why not try knitting up a cozy for them? I think this wrapped wrap idea is perfect for smaller gifts like jewelry, but you can also adapt this pattern to fit a nice bottle of wine, coffee cup, or anything else you can think of. Just alter how many stitches you cast on and the length of your knitting, easy peasy!
#PHWinterWorkshop – how you can help raise money for a children’s hospital this holiday season!
Before we dig into the pattern, I wanted to tell you what inspired this idea. It came about last month when UK-based ParcelHero contacted me about designing a box to be auctioned off in December for charity. In the coming weeks, you can bid on this very box (and others) to help raise money for the children’s charity Great Ormond Street Hospital. They’re hoping to raise £1,500 to buy G.O.S.H. a portable heart monitor to help doctors monitor kids’ health more easily. Children’s heart health is an important cause to my family, and I couldn’t be more excited to be part of this project.

Easy Knit Gift Wrap Pattern
Supplies
gift box, wrapped or painted (as pictured)
two colors of worsted weight yarn
US 8 (5 mm) knitting needles
scissors
tapestry needle or crochet hook to weave in ends
Abbreviations
CO – cast on
sts – stitches
clr A – color A (green in pictures)
sl – slip
p – purl
k – knit
rpt – repeat
clr B – color B (green in pictures)
BO – bind off
The Pattern
Sizing note: The listed pattern was designed to fit the box pictured, which is about 14 inches as measured around the outside. The finished wrap measures 3.75 by 14.25 inches, and the pattern gauge is 3.5 stitches and 4 rows per inch knit in stockinette stitch after wet blocking.
Wrap
CO 16 sts Clr A.
1. sl 1, p 14, k1.
2. sl 1, k across.
Rpt 1-2 seven times (14 rows total).
Using Clr B, rpt 1-2 three times (6 rows).
Switch back to Clr A, and work 1-2 until piece measures about 14 inches. BO all sts. Wet block for a cleaner finished look. When your piece has finished blocking, sew ends together and weave in ends.Bow rectangle
CO 9 sts Clr B.
1. sl 1, p7, k1.
2. sl 1, k across.
Rpt 1-2 eight times (16 rows).
BO all sts, weave in ends, and wet block for a cleaner finished look.Attach bow to wrap by cutting about 18 inches of yarn in Clr A. Centering the bow rectangle on the yarn, wind yarn snugly around the center of the bow rectangle. Use tails of yarn to attach bow to box wrap.
