We’ve all heard of Black Friday, the notorious shopping day right after Thanksgiving. Many of you might be new to the idea of Small Business Saturday, the small business answer to the chaos of Black Friday. This year, SBS falls on Saturday, November 26.
I’m excited to announce that I’ll be doing live demos at the November 26 Urban Folk Circuit market at The Double Door (1572 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL). The Urban Folk Circuit is:
Chicago’s only year-round, traveling craft show, the Urban Folk Circuit began in October 2010. Organized by Jessica Duff and Kelli Wefenstette, the monthly market has transformed Chicago’s favorite bars and music venues into handmade havens of crafts, drafts, and free acoustic tunes.
The November 26 market includes an awesome array of sellers, some of whom you might have read about in my roundups of their May and July markets. For a full list of who you can score some sweet handmade finds from next weekend, check out and RSVP to the market’s Facebook event.
I’ll be demoing how to make your own handmade  gift wrap and tags from discarded books, old newspapers and that stack of old cards from your great aunt Susie. We’ll have supplies on hand for you to craft along with me and take your gifts home from the market in style.
You can also check out live music from Rachel Katzman Farr, Cousin Dud, The Adaptations & The Canoes throughout the day. There will also be a raffle for at $25 Urban Folk Circuit gift card and a live glass blowing demonstration by Made By Robots Glass Studio.
