Easy No Slip Hangers

May 20, 2014 6 Comments

Easy No Slip Hangers - Free Crochet Pattern - handsoccupied.com

I have a couple of dresses I really love, but they’re always falling off their hangers. And like a lot of knitters & crocheters, I also have a LOT of scrap yarn laying around. With scrap sock yarn in particular, it can be hard to find a good use for the leftovers. Two problems? One solution – a simple crocheted band of yarn for my slippery dresses to latch on to. Plus, this DIY hack takes about 10 total minutes. Win, win, win!

Supplies

hangers
scrap yarn
appropriate crochet hook for yarn
scissors
yarn needle

Pattern & Directions

tie a slip knot around your hanger
single crochet (sc) 25
break yarn, draw tail through and weave in ends
repeat on other side of hanger

Loop your yarn around the top edge of one side of your hanger, as shown.

Hook your yarn and pull it through the loop.

Single crochet around the hanger (and your yarn’s tail), lining up the V’s of your crochet in a straight line.

After you single crochet 25, cut your yarn, leaving a couple-inch tail.

Draw the tail through your working loop, and use a yarn needle to sew the tail inside the crochet.

One complete side should look like this…

And after you’ve repeated the crocheting on each side of your hangers, they’ll look like this.

See? Super easy, and they’re great for keeping that slippery dress or shirt on its hanger in the closet. Because the last thing you need when you’re running late, is part of your (potentially dry clean only) wardrobe falling on top of a (potentially) dirty shoe.
