How-to: Party Supply Wreath for New Year’s

December 27, 2012 1 Comment

How-to: Party Supply Wreath | HandsOccupied.com

Ring in the new year with a simple DIY decoration made from party supplies. Everything I used for this wreath came pre-glittered, which means very little fuss or mess!

Supplies

a few dozen noisemakers (like these party horns at Dollar Tree or metallic horns or glitter horns at Party City)

pre-made tissue paper pinwheel (like this, or DIY one with my pinwheel tutorial)

New Year’s Eve party cutouts (like these)

hot glue gun

cardboard

duct & masking tape

scissors

a few dozen paper clips

ruler/tape measure

Directions

Arrange your noisemakers into a circle, paper clipping them together to keep in place (see blue circles below for where to clip them). Cut a ring out of cardboard that is large enough for your wreath, reinforcing with duct tape if necessary.

Hot glue 3-6 noisemakers at a time to the cardboard ring to create the first part of your wreath.

You can stop at this point like I almost did, but I kept feeling like the wreath was a little bare. Plus the cardboard peeking through behind the plastic of the noisemakers was bugging me a little.

For the inner ring of the wreath, I hot glued my ready-to-go tissue paper pinwheel in the center of the horns. Then I taped my New Year’s Eve party cutouts to the center with masking tape so I can swap out some of the different cutouts as I see fit.

Let dry completely before hanging. This is a super easy & affordable project that really packs a punch. It’s about 2 feet around, so it will look great hanging above a dessert table or on your front door. Your New Year’s guests will be surprised to learn this epic wreath is made of discount store party favors!

A note on Very Serious Crafts: In the post I discuss stepping away from the @seriouscrafts podcast to give myself more time to devote to some minor medical issues. Don’t you worry - my health will be fine, & @molliejohanson @redhandledscissors and I are still pals, and after a short break of their own, the podcast will be back! Just sans moi. 💁🏼‍♀️😆
