I know a lot of you are already great knitters and are eager to see more of my non-beginner content. So now that it’s March and spring is in the air, I’ve got a couple ideas for transitional weather patterns. What sort of springy patterns would you guys like to see this spring?

My grandmother knitted these mittens for my mom when she was a teen. When I was home for Christmas, my mom said I could have them, and I was obviously excited. They’re really a sweet little set of mittens with a basic checked motif, and I absolutely love the color.

Picks of The Week

I skipped on my weekly roundup last week for the holidays, which means today’s picks cover more than usual. And as it’s a new year, I think I’m going to expand my picks of the week to include other yarn projects like fancy pom poms, macrame, and weaving. I’m new to funky poms, but I would love learn how to make & design cool poms of my own!

This was a week of big and small knitting & crochet ideas, all over the internet apparently (or at least the parts of the internet I frequent). This blog was obviously no exception with my mini Harry Potter sweaters, but I love it when a lot of knitting and crochet bloggers are on a similar wavelength at the same time. It’s really inspiring to see the different creative ways two different designers approach a similar concept. Or at least I think so. :)

The Olympics start today! And Valentine’s Day is in one week! I am seriously more excited about this crafting season than most Christmases. Especially now that, while often resulting in adorable party crafts, football time is over. This year, I’m seeing so much lovely pink and grey in DIY projects. It’s pretty and feminine in an elegant way. I’ll always be team red, since it’s my favorite color, but I’m really swooning for what my fellow bloggers are designing right now. Here are some of my faves.

Which way do you knit? Picking, throwing, Portugue Which way do you knit? Picking, throwing, Portuguese, Shetland… how about lever style?

Today on the blog, we’re defining & comparing the two most common knitting styles: continental and throwing. They’re each known by a few names, and odds are one of them really is your grandmother’s knitting style (if she’s a western knitter that is). There’s a new video to help demonstrate the differences too. Another good one to save & share! 😉

I try my hardest to be realistic about how much knitting I’m going to get done vs. the effort of schlepping my WIP(s) and yarn around. I definitely almost brought double this amount of yarn, which would have been hilariously unnecessary for a weekend trip. Why am I like this? 😆 Do you also struggle with overpacking when it comes to crafts?
