Werther’s Original Sugar Free

April 24, 2013 Leave a Comment

Werther's Original Sugar Free

As a person who is hypoglycemic (I get low blood sugar), I have to be careful about what I eat. For example, if I eat candy on an empty stomach, I turn into a hyperactive freak show for about an hour as my blood sugar spikes and then can pass out when it crashes afterward. When I drink pop, it’s almost always diet unless I can eat it with a meal to offset the sugar. And when I have really sweet desserts, I have to make sure to eat those with proper food too. When I exercise, I have to have the right kind of snacks and have to follow-up my workout with more good snacks. And don’t get me started about the massive pain in the butt dieting is.

All that being said, I was excited when I got some new Werther’s Original Sugar Free Candies to try out. They’re available in four flavors: hard candies, caramel cinnamon, caramel coffee and caramel apple. Flavor-wise, I thought they were honestly pretty great. They don’t hit your tongue and taste like chemicals. They taste like real candy. The cinnamon caramel is my favorite overall, followed by the classic hard candy flavor.

I’m lucky that I’m hypoglycemic and not diabetic – the biggest consequences of my messing up my diet are getting the shakes and passing out. My favorite thing about Werther’s Original Sugar Free Candies is that I don’t have to spend time worrying about what I eat with these. I’m at my desk at work and I’m craving candy, I can just grab one or two, and it’s no big deal. Like a normal person! Speaking of treating myself to these at work, I really like all of the flavors with coffee, which I always drink black. Imagine that – sweets with my coffee and I don’t have to feel bad!

I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls Collective, and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.

(What can I say, I lost a game of yarn chicken. 😂) I almost didn’t post this because I was worried someone might have some nonsense to say about my ability to knit. Then I remembered I can’t care about that. Silly me, I almost forgot myself!

Speaking of which, dang it’s good to have my mental health back consistently after the past couple of years. The anxious parts of my personality are just chilling, rather than constantly screaming that my work isn’t good enough to share. The confident parts of me that matter have me creating (and starting to share my creations & process with strangers and friends) again!
