If yesterday was mindful Monday, I suppose that makes today tinkle Tuesday. (Or TMI Tuesday?) I’ve been catching up on a bunch of lab work from the past year, including a test involving these contraptions, 24 hours, & a mini fridge. 😎

The positive: I was pleasantly surprised that I managed to color-coordinate during this otherwise awkward day. 🤍❤️💖🧡💚 Surely I’m not the only person playing post-panorama doctor catch up, right? At least I’m getting plenty of waiting room knitting in. 😷🧶

Remember that time I laid, I mean made an egg? 🍳 All of the shots of this cover project for my book ended up showing this wooly rug as a wall hanging, but I think it looks pretty dope as a rug!

Pictured is a 4’ x ~2’ latch hook rug inspired by an over easy egg cooking in a frying pan done in creamy white, royal blue & eggy yellow. Yarn is @yarnspirations Patons Classic Wool Roving (a single ply wool I just looove latch hooking with!). Originally, there was going to be a sriracha-esque braid of red yarn as part of this design but it got cut. 🤡 if you want to hook your own giant egg and add all the hot sauce your heart desires, get your hands on a copy of my book, linked in bio. 🧶 #latchhookbook

The sunrise caught my WIPs pretty nicely this morning! That pile of sweaters is there as I work on putting together my seamed sweater knitting video series. The punch needles and cake of @knit_picks Wool of the Andes yarn are for the rainbow project I shared recently. 🌈

Daily migraines have kept me from sharing new Hands Occupied content this week, but I’m starting to feel better. Terribly excited that it’s the end of the week, and in my neck of the woods, it’s a sunny day! What WIPs are you most excited to tackle this weekend? Mine might be finishing the sweaters... 🧶

At some point over the last year, I started to set

At some point over the last year, I started to set aside time for practicing mindfulness every Monday. Starting the week by practicing mindfulness helps me listen to my body to know what level of anxiety I’m carrying.

{ Speaking of, yesterday was a migraine day, so this would-be Monday post is going up now because my body said I needed a break. It happens. }
.
Usually, I just share glimpses of my mindful activities in stories on Monday mornings. But after hearing from some folks that you’ve started doing your own creative mindfulness practices on Mondays too, I thought I’d open a chat here. Yesterday, I worked on a simple paint by number kit (from 1975!) & listened to music. Other weeks it’s yoga or watching relaxing ambience videos on YouTube & meditating. Or journaling. One week I even sorted skittles by color when I didn’t really feel like doing it. Whatever works! 💁🏼‍♀️

It’s more about getting to a point of calm before starting your week than crafting a masterpiece. If you’re also someone who crafts to aid in mindfulness/manage anxiety, what have you had success with? It’s fascinating to hear what works from fellow maker types. ❤️💛💙
