Online, I am known as a crafter first, but in recent years my love of vintage has become more visible in my work, especially through my vintage knitting adventures. Today I wanted to start sharing interesting, cute, & straight up weird items from my vintage clothing and knick knack collections with you. These are things that bring me joy, whether they make me feel pretty or just plain laugh. The world is kind of trash right now, so why not? 👗🧵

So! For this first vintage-meets-handmade wardrobe post, I'm pairing a medical scrubs-teal dress with a pink gingham apron stitched with chicken scratch embroidery (see another shot a couple posts back). If this dress isn't deadstock, it has to have been worn only once or twice ever - it's in amazing shape! Found at Chicago's @kneedeepvintage, this cotton, elbow-length, 1950s shirtwaist dress features color-matching shank style buttons and elegant pleating to form a full skirt that hits just below the knee. With some alterations, this is going to be a lifelong favorite that I swear will see date night again!

Finally, 2 quick questions: 1. I'm curious, if you could wear this dress anywhere, where would it be? / And 2. What vintagey thing should I share next? I think It needs to be something weird like a faux fur poodle-themed toilet paper roll cover with a felt tongue sticking out. Or something. 😆 #handmadevintage

The second fall hits, my go-to colors inevitably shift toward the moody. 🍁 Yellow is probably the best example. It’s like a switch flips for fall, and suddenly sunny yellow has been replaced by mustardy, deeper hues in all of my making. 🍂☺️

Had a rough night with my dog Storm last night, who has sadly been having health issues since midsummer. She’s resting now, but I will definitely be keeping it low key this weekend. The one silver lining to all this is finding little pockets of time to work on a new, slow knitting idea I’ve been back-burnering for far too long. ❤️
