Knewbies | How to Bind Off

March 4, 2015 Leave a Comment

How to knit a basic bind off - Click through for a beginner knitting tutorial.

Casting on, learning a stitch or two, and binding off are the three skills you need as a knitter to do a project from start to finish on your own. I had friends and family around when I was learning to knit who knew how to bind off, so binding off was one of the last basic knitting skills I acquired as a beginner. When I realized how easy it is to work a basic bind off like the one I’m sharing today, I absolutely regretted not mastering it sooner! That’s why I’m introducing this so early on in the knewbies/knitting 101 series. Don’t worry, though – the how to purl video has already been shot and is slated for next week, then you’ll really be knitting!

If you’re looking for a chance to use this basic knitting bind off, I recommend checking out the Newbie Fringe Scarf pattern I shared on Monday – you only need to cast on, knit a bunch of rows, and then bind off using this method!
