October Letter from the Editor

October 12, 2012 1 Comment

Hi guys!

This is Heidi, the lady behind Hands Occupied. You might have noticed a couple of changes to the website this week. Hands Occupied turned two in September, and I’ve been needing to give the site a makeover for awhile now. Last year, the site got a proper logo for its first birthday, and for its second birthday, HO is getting a makeover. Much like myself, a lot of you read blogs on your phones and tablets, and the old design wasn’t cutting it. I’ve switched to a new design that’s bigger on regular computers and laid out better on other devices. I’m still settling into the new design, and will surely be playing with the background and colors for a few weeks before I’m 100% satisfied.

There are now some ads in the sidebar. HO has grown a lot, and those ads are part of the blog growing up. If any of the ads are ever offensive or weird, just email me or leave a comment about it, and I’ll have it removed. Everyone sees different ads, so any help is awesome.

What else? I’m also writing for more craft & design blogs, including Craft Gossip, Goodsmiths (an online marketplace for crafters), and Discover Paper. Every month, I’ll be posting a letter from the editor like this one with announcements and a roundup of my writing at these other sites. I’m very excited to share all of my crafty adventures with you all.

Sincerely,

Heidi

Much love to everyone who sent supportive messages about taking time off and creative burnout. I often deflect with humor, but it was genuinely touching to connect with folks who understand. I’ll have something new for y’all later this week, so stay tuned! ❤️💛💙

A note on Very Serious Crafts: In the post I discuss stepping away from the @seriouscrafts podcast to give myself more time to devote to some minor medical issues. Don’t you worry - my health will be fine, & @molliejohanson @redhandledscissors and I are still pals, and after a short break of their own, the podcast will be back! Just sans moi. 💁🏼‍♀️😆

rather than giving you my bio right now, I have a question. I just got this new sweater & I can’t stop imaging how funny it would be to wear this to a knitting class ... is that bad? 🤣🤣🤣
