The days may be so short right now, but it’s helping me find lots of knitting & dog bonding time! Turns out that June here is a big fan of lap cuddles & my wool cape. 🥺🥺🥺 (Thanks to my husband for catching the moment when she decided to snuggle up!)

There’s yarn chicken, then there’s this kind of chicken: trying to get a picture of June being cute around my knitting but also hauling a*s to keep my WIP out of her mouth when I’m pushing my luck. 😆

As you can see, she has no other toys to occupy herself and must resort to chompin’ yarn.

Confession: Before this project, I’d never done

Confession: Before this project, I’d never done 2 handed stranded knitting. I wasn’t taught throwing technique as a kid when I learned to knit, but 25 years later, I realized I have a few ideas up my sleeve (🤣) and wanted to start getting my technique tightened up while playing with some new design ideas.

Practicing technique makes me feel a bit like I’ve gone back to my days as a classical musician, running scales and whatnot. Anybody else do technique practice projects like this or am I being super yarn nerdy again?

After a rusty, watery hell portal opened over the 200 square foot Hands Occupied Studio on Halloween (swipe to see), I’ve decided to downsize to something smaller & cheaper that is also less hazardous to my fiber business. I am sad to let go of my sun-filled space, but it is time.
.
Since early 2020, it’s been too hazardous to host meet ups in a 200 sq ft studio, and the new one will be even smaller. Unfortunately this means that there won’t be any more Craft Nights or Crafternoons. To those who made it out regularly: thank you, it was so much fun! Our little 100% free community of crafters was special and it will be missed. ❤️

If you’re looking for other craft groups, I encourage you to start with local yarn shops. Many have in person and virtual meet ups, you simply need to ask!

If you’ve got a favorite memory of Craft Night, I’d love to hear about it. Even though I really dodged a bullet with water damage this month, I’m still grieving the loss of the fun plans I’d originally had in store for my studio space, and that would cheer me up. ☺️ Maybe one day when social distancing isn’t a priority I’ll rekindle some of those plans, but for now, thanks for the memories. ❤️💛💙#handsoccupiedstudio #handsoccupied
