*bespoke*’s Top 10 Handmade/Vintage Finds of 2011

December 29, 2011 Leave a Comment

The last week of 2011 continues with some of the most adorable handmade/vintage finds of 2011, courtesy of today’s guest, Jess from *bespoke*! Take a gander…

***

Hello, lovely Hands Occupied readers! My name is Jess, and I’m thrilled to be making a visit to Heidi’s lovely site today.

I have to say, when Heidi suggested I do a post entitled ‘Top 10 Handmade/Vintage Finds of 2011’ I had a moment of panic! I mean, I live and breathe handmade and vintage, and how on earth was I to pick just 10?

But thanks to the magical tools of my Etsy favourites and Pinterest, I was able to scour back through the year and come up with 10 things I love. In fact, I love some of them so much, I now own them!

So, let’s get to it, shall we?

1. Handmade vintage-inspired dresses by Jennifer Lily. Jennifer’s dresses are on my Christmas Wish List – I have a rather large vintage dress collection, and these would fit right in!

†2. Natural Lip Gloss by Blushie. I’m a big fan of mineral makeup, and I love the look of these lip glosses! I can’t pull off regular lipstick, so this looks like a great way to add a bit of colour – without looking like a clown.

†3. Graphic Art Print by Yellow Heart Art. This is the story of my life, and something I’d love to hang on my wall! {And it comes in a few different colour combos, too.}

†4. Vintage Lavendar Jacket from Plastic Tags. This is one of the items that is in my personal collection. As soon as I saw it, I pounced! It’s one of my very favourite and most-warn jackets, now.

†5. Taking Time Kindle Cover by Bobishi. My kindle is like my baby. Hence, before it even arrived I bought myself one of these kindle covers to keep it safe. And, bonus, it can double as a clutch! Lucky for you, it’s not a one-off, and they’re still available.

†6. Embroidered cuff by Caro Baertling. This has stuck with me since I stumbled across it earlier in the year. A gorgeous juxtaposition of metal and fabric, I would LOVE to have one in my collection!

†7. Muriel, by Corset Laced†Mannequin. These are just amazing! Beautiful dress forms covered in divine fabrics and corset-laced up the back. My poor little mannequin Evie looks sad and plain in comparison!

†8. Mai-May by Paulie T.B. I am a bit in love with the artwork of Paulie T.B. – her use of colour is just gorgeous!

†9. Jane Justin Vintage Dress from Niche Style. This is a dress, but I think I’d probably wear it as a jacket if it were in my collection. I adore the cut, colour… well, everything, really!

†10. Magnet Embroidery Sampler by September House. Something simple and cute to finish off – these would make an adorable gift for a crafty friend… or for yourself!

I hope you enjoyed this handmade/vintage journey back through 2011 – I can’t wait to see what next year has in store…

Working on a sample for some upcoming videos. It’s an overcast day with intermittent sunshine & I have a scruffy little sidecar. 🐶 Can’t complain!

Peg boards and craft room organization go together Peg boards and craft room organization go together like peanut butter and jelly. So, as you can see, do latch hook tools and screwdriver organizers! 🪛
.
I think this trick translates to any tool with a thick handle, so leather working tools, punch needles, print making tools, etc. should work! What other tools am I, a needlecrafter, blanking on right now?

Pegboard storage is my favorite for craft supplies Pegboard storage is my favorite for craft supplies, so getting a few hung in my new studio has been a priority. Here’s my first attempt. 🔨
.
Details: This pegboard panel is for organizing my knitting needles, latch hook tools, sewing thread, etc. It doesn’t need to hold much weight, so I didn’t anchor this into a stud - just used basic drywall anchors. I’ve also got a set of two 2’x4’ panels for another spot in my studio, and those will need a stud/more than 3 drywall anchors. Wish me luck!

June’s big ears can get cold in winter, so I’m improvising a doggie ear warmer/hood for her. What are the odds she tries to shred it immediately when it’s done?
