Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece Yarn Review & Giveaway

July 9, 2019 2 Comments

Yarn was provided for review & giveaway by Brown Sheep Company. Opinions are my own.

Cotton Fleece Yarn from Brown Sheep Company is versatile and durable with an 80/20 mix of cotton and wool. Great for baby knitting and crochet projects, dish cloths, and more!

July means cotton yarn season (in the Northern Hemisphere at least)! If you’ve never come across it before, Brown Sheep Company’s Cotton Fleece yarn is an 80% cotton/20% wool blend yarn. The wool content makes the yarn a bit more resilient while the cotton still makes projects cool, which is why we’re talking about it now! Available in over 60 colors, you can use Cotton Fleece for baby blankets, tank tops, swimwear, kids clothes, toys and more this summer!

The Yarn: Brown Sheep Company’s Cotton Fleece

Colorway pictured: Buttercream (light yellow) & Silver Blueberry (light blue)
Skein details:
 215 yards/197 meters per skein // 3.5 ounces/100g per skein // 80% Pima Cotton/20% Wool // DK Weight
Knitting needles: US 6, 4 mm / 20 stitches & 22 rows over 4 inches (10 cm)
Crochet hook: US F-5, 3.75 mm / 20 sc & 21 rows over 4 inches (10 cm)
Cons: Like a lot of cotton yarns, there’s a little bit of splitting that happens as you work with this one, but no more than similar yarns that are predominantly cotton.
Pros: Cotton Fleece is a real workhorse, bringing a little more quality to the table than other cotton yarns you might have as a go-to- for cotton baby blankets or dish cloths. Cotton Fleece also comes in 60 colors, giving you lots of good options for project selection!
Pattern Ideas: Knitters can almost always use a good baby blanket pattern, and the Staggered Holes Baby Blanket would suit this month’s yarn just fine! And since it’s never too early to get a head on Christmas crochet, this yarn would work perfectly with the Scandinavian Advent Calendar pattern.
