October Sponsor Spotlight at Hands Occupied

PostStitch / Mountain Meadow Wool / Feel Good Yarn Co.

October is on its way out, which means it’s about time I highlight the great sponsors we have on board this month! All three of these companies should be familiar as they’ve sponsored Hands Occupied in the past, and I’ve highlighted all three of them at some point or another on this blog. All of the women behind these three companies are really hard workers, passionate about their craft, and are all a delight to work with. You should check them out!

PostStitch is a knitting project subscription service that puts out two boxes a month. They also have a shop with a ton of cute knitting notions and gifts. If you’re brand new to PostStitch and want to know what to expect from one of their boxes, you can check out my review of one of their kits from 2014.

PostStitch Wool 101 Project Bags
What I love: This is one of my favorite project bags. I have one of these myself, and I use it constantly. It’s called the Wool 101 project bag, and you can buy it from the PostStitch shop.

Mountain Meadow Wool

A Mountain Meadow Wool pasture with sheep and lambs.

Mountain Meadow Wool is a fiber mill and yarn company out of Buffalo, Wyoming. They are all about keeping the rancher involved in the yarn they produce, which is something I wish more yarn companies would do. They even list the farms from which their fibers are sourced on the labels of their yarns, which is really special.

The American Ranch Collection – Wyoming Blanket Series from Mountain Meadow Wool
What I love: Not only does Mountain Meadow Wool produce yarns, they also have these really gorgeous blankets. MMW’s lovely wool yarn is woven into these blankets at the legendary Fairbault Woolen Mill in Minnesota, so from start to finish the blanket is American made. The blankets come in cream and gray, and I’d love to have a gray one in my home for years to come.

Feel Good Yarn Co.

Feel Good Yarn Company makes SilverSpun yarn with American-sourced fibers and is spun in the US too. You can learn about their innovative yarn in my recent review, and you can get instructions for how to knit or crochet easy touchscreen gloves that I designed with their yarn here, and there’s still one day left to win a skein of FGY’s SilverSpun Sport yarn.

The Pompeii Hat by Laurie Gonyea is a high contrast pattern inspired by exquisite mosaic works unearthed in the famed ancient city of the same name.

What I love: The mosaic-patterned Pompeii Hat Kit caught my eye on the Feel Good Yarn Co. site early on. Making the most of FGY’s new, colorful SilverSpun Sport yarn, this high-contrast hat is super cute.

Working on a sample for some upcoming videos. It’s an overcast day with intermittent sunshine & I have a scruffy little sidecar. 🐶 Can’t complain!

Peg boards and craft room organization go together Peg boards and craft room organization go together like peanut butter and jelly. So, as you can see, do latch hook tools and screwdriver organizers! 🪛
.
I think this trick translates to any tool with a thick handle, so leather working tools, punch needles, print making tools, etc. should work! What other tools am I, a needlecrafter, blanking on right now?

Pegboard storage is my favorite for craft supplies Pegboard storage is my favorite for craft supplies, so getting a few hung in my new studio has been a priority. Here’s my first attempt. 🔨
.
Details: This pegboard panel is for organizing my knitting needles, latch hook tools, sewing thread, etc. It doesn’t need to hold much weight, so I didn’t anchor this into a stud - just used basic drywall anchors. I’ve also got a set of two 2’x4’ panels for another spot in my studio, and those will need a stud/more than 3 drywall anchors. Wish me luck!

June’s big ears can get cold in winter, so I’m improvising a doggie ear warmer/hood for her. What are the odds she tries to shred it immediately when it’s done?
