Glitter Nails for NYE

December 30, 2013 2 Comments

DIY Glitter Nails for New Year's Eve

In the last few years, DIY nails and glitter have become hallmarks of New Year’s Eve in the diy/style/general-lady-interests internet. After seeing how cool the chunky rainbow glitter looked stuck (with simple static) on my white nails after the photo shoot for the simple glitter bombs last week, I thought I’d whip up a teensy DIY  for how to make the look last.

Supplies

white nail polish
clear nail polish (or a base & topcoat)
rainbow glitter

Directions

Paint your nails all white and let dry completely. Then, gather up some glitter in a pile, bowl, whatever you please – just put it in a convenient place nearby. Paint a thick basecoat on one hand.

DIY Glitter Nails for New Year's Eve While the basecoat is still wet, sprinkle glitter over your nails.

Paint a generous topcoat over your glittered nails, and let dry. Since the base and topcoat need to be thick, they take awhile to dry. I always plop down for an hour-long show or movie whenever I do my nails, otherwise I get antsy, decide to work on a project or something else ill-advised and end up ruining my nails after a ton of careful work.
