The Yarn: Urth Uneek Worsted
Colorway pictured: 4009
Skein details: 100g / 3.5 oz. skeins / 220 yds / 200m / 100% extra fine merino wool / worsted weight
Knitting needles: US 8, 5 mm / 15 stitches & 21 rows over 4 inches
Crochet hook: US I-9, 5.5 mm / 15 sc & 18 rows over 4 inches
Cons: I picked this colorway for its boldness, but it’s worth noting that the inside of the skein is several shades lighter (see the how the yarn looks when balled at the top of this post) than the outside of the skein. On the other hand, that lighter color in the latter part of the skein could make working simple stitch patterns a bit more interesting.
Pros: The first part of the skein’s bold colors are really saturated, which is always super fun! When I blocked my swatches, the water didn’t turn any sort of blue or brown, which can happen if a yarn is overdyed to appear more bold. If you like quality yarn AND great color choices, Urth’s Uneek yarn line is definitely worth a look!
Pattern Ideas: This yarn is perfect for something like the Top Notched Shawl, a knitting pattern designed to work at any gauge and show off beautiful yarns! And if we’re talking crochet, the Round Granny Cushion fits the bill for showing off this self-striping stunner in a one skein project.
